Peninsula Council for Workforce Development

Council Priorities

Human capital solutions for a growing economy

Economists say that human capital contributes to 70 percent of all wealth creation. Education and training are the most important investments in human capital and contribute to developing workplace skills.

The Council's strategic priorities are geared toward developing the Greater Peninsula's human capital.

  • Priority #1:
Establish a network of comprehensive partners that provide exceptional workforce career centers [called One-Stops] in each of the Greater Peninsula's identified workforce areas, by 2008.

  • Priority #2:
Complete a yearly workforce demand analysis that captures workforce trends and employer needs within the Greater Peninsula, and ensure that employers understand the options and services available through the network of workforce partners.

  • Priority #3:
Increase labor market skills development for adults through career/technical and post secondary educational opportunities.
