Submit Work Based Learning & Community Service Opportunities for Peninsula Students!
Do you remember sitting in the classroom and wondering "why is this important?" Now that you're responsible for recruiting and retaining qualified employees, do you find it difficult to find prepared entry-level candidates that are ready to contribute? Now you and your organization can help solve this problem by preparing students to enter the workforce before they graduate. In many local high schools, area students are required to perform community service as a graduation requirement. Now area service organizations can enter their Community Service opportunities in our database as well!
The solution is called "Work Based Learning" (WBL) and the term summarizes a variety of activities that place students and educators in direct contact with private and public sector professionals, managers and administrators who can help them gain invaluable work experience, academic assistance, marketplace knowledge and career advice. To do so, however, we need Business Leaders like you!
Experienced professionals from industry can make a tremendous difference. Executives in private and public organizations willing to design and sponsor one or more programs below are the lynchpin. A brief description of each type of WBL is provided. Please use the form below the program descriptions to add your opportunity to our database. Educators and Students will be able to review these program descriptions on an anonymous basis. Your point of contact for all initial inquiries about suitable candidates will be the Youth Career Cafe Staff. Once you have entered your program description, a member of the Youth Career Cafe Staff will contact you to clarify your needs and learning opportunities.
