The first fully certified One-Stop center in the state of Virginia has been recognized as a best practice center by the U.S. Department of Labor. For the past two years, Peninsula Worklink has met or exceeded every performance measure established by the Virginia Workforce Council.
More than 27,500 job seekers used the Virginia Workforce Centers’ facilities in 2005 to find employment, and 550 customers received intensive job search assistance. Another 266 individuals were granted financial support in excess of $1 million to pursue specific skill training opportunities. The award-winning system is head-quartered in a state-of-the-art, 92,000-square-foot facility in Hampton, with another comprehensive center in Williamsburg and satellite centers in Newport News and Gloucester. In 2005 and 2006, services also were offered at Fort Eustis, Fort Monroe, Langley Air Force Base and Yorktown Naval Weapons Station.
The Peninsula Worklink takes great pride in its innovative approaches to fulfilling the Council's objectives of workforce development, employer competitiveness and job seeker satisfaction. Customer satisfaction has always been the hallmark of our success.
