Industry Cluster Groups
Industry Cluster Groups are composed of representatives from the same or similar industries for the purpose of identifying and discussing industry and workforce issues. Cluster issues may include:
- skill requirements for specific jobs or career paths
- training requirements for emerging, incumbent and/or expanding workforces
- challenges pertaining to employee attraction and retention
Cluster activities are designed to be private industry/employer driven and are intended to address the immediate and long-term development needs of the industry in question. Other topics, such as public policy and legislative issues related to workforce services and development, are also examined.
Clusters normally represent industries that match one or more of the following descriptions:
- Insustries that employ significant numbers of local skilled residents
- Industries that are expanding or are considering locating/relaocating to the area
- Industries that are making the effort to move to higher levels of competence but are restricted by the skill levels or thier current employee base and worker pool
